Calvin Lee is an award-winning designer located in Los Angeles. His focus is developing identity and brand recognition for both small and large businesses.
Calvin's creative spark ignited at the ripe old age of 10, amidst some coloring books and a trusty 64 pack of Crayola’s®. In a defiant act of coloring outside the lines, he knew that he would have a career in the design field some day. Next came the comic book influence. He loved how they swept him away into another world. Entering the world of graphic design years later, he discovered he really enjoyed solving problems through a visual medium.
Mostly self-taught, armed with a library of design books and a penchant for hard work, Calvin started Mayhem Studios in 2001. Through Mayhem Studios, he integrates strategic thinking with creative design to create effective messages targeted to his clients’ specific audiences. Solutions may come in the form of identities, branded collateral pieces, annual reports, brochures, logo design, advertising and interactive web sites.
Sweating over a hot keyboard has resulted in receiving numerous international design awards, being featured in several books including Creatively Self-Employed, Creativity Awards, American Corporate Identity, Big Book of Business Cards, Big Book of Layouts. Calvin is also profiled on several websites.
Being the nice guy he is, Calvin believes in giving back to the community that helped to shape the person he is today. He serves as a member of the Platt College Advisory Board for the Visual Communications Department, on the NO!SPEC Committee, he is also in charge of membership submissions for Creative Latitude and moderator for the About.com Graphic Design forum.
When Mr. Lee's not busy doing his design thing, he enjoys working toward being the Hulk's stunt double by getting huge at the gym. He also has an affinity for dining out with friends and being a comic book/tech geek. |
